Cornwall-Brittany Backyard Wedding

Cornwall and Brittany (Bretagne) share a deep connection with each other throughout history, from the history of fishing and mass migration from Cornwall during the 5th and 6th centurys to their very similar black and white flags, which also interestingly involve the cross of st David the patriot st of Wales where I am from. The flags were both displayed at the reception. As well as both having beautiful quaint coastal villages and harbour towns. They both were Celtic countries in their own right at one time, both with their own Celtic dialects which few people in both areas still know and use. So it made a fitting venue for this Cornish family to hold their wedding in this fantastic location.

Romantic laid back french wedding with elegant Style

Leander and Richards wedding took place at the town hall in La Cambout a small traditional French town about an hours drive from Brittany's capital city of Rennes, North West France. The very friendly and welcoming Marie (mayor) conducted the short no fuss laid back ceremony. So laid back even the wedding rings were forgotten, not just from the ceremony but the best man forgot to bring them from his B&B. This caused a few giggles but was quickly put right, by a mad dash back to the B&B.

Its normal for foreigners to to legally wed in their home country first before coming to France, but as the brides parents own a 2nd home in the town, they were lucky to be able to avoid that and complete the legal side here in France.

The bride stunned all in a beautiful blush gown with lace overlay, handmade and embroidered veil, simple but elegant white rose and greenery bouquet with stunning pearl shoes.

The groom in a classic and stylish navy blue suit.

The bridesmaid in a complimentary blush dress.

After the ceremony was over, we head over to the local lake, (Etang du Gue au Loup), for a few group images and some couple portraits. The lake was perfect, cool in the shade and with nature as a beautiful backdrop.

Backyard Reception

The reception took place nearby,in the garden of Leander's parents second home, a beautifully converted former pigsty. All set for a magical day.

The styling was what I call rustic elegance, with twine, burlap bows, linen and gold candelabras. All Softened by gorgeous leafy, white rose floral arrangements and arch's.

It was stunning!

Just as you would expect being planned by a Mother and Daughter team of interior designers. from. Linterior design Cornwall.

With their string of adorable dachshunds as special guests with matching bows.
